by Lynne den Hartog ... Black clouds cloaked the moon. Thin tendrils of mist solidified. Falling to my knees in abject obeisance, primeval panic filled my soul. "Shena, Goddess of Love, I beg of Thee. Return to me what I have lost." Spirit music filled the air: awesome threads of sound weaving a tapestry, its pattern pure chaos. Lightning flashed, and from Her heart a butterfly was born. Gossamer wings shimmered in the half-light. Clasping it tightly, I cried in joy. And then She spoke, "I cannot return that which was never yours to own." Opening my hands, my tears fell upon dusty Death. ... Copyright © 2001 Lynne den
